9/11 National Day of Service

September 09, 2017

11:00 AM - 03:00 PM CDT

Houston Platoon

Event overview

This year marks the 16-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and as we remember those who’ve served, here in Houston the anniversary has taken on an additional meaning. Due to the severity of Hurricane Harvey and its impact on our communities, we will honor those who served 16 years ago by uniting in service to help KIPP North. Please come out and join all 5 Houston service platoons as we commemorate our national day of service and help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Registration and breakfast will start at 10:30 am so that we can kick off the event on time. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Please bring your energy and family and we look forward to seeing you there. Some of the projects we will complete: -Outdoor Basketball Pavilion (Pressure Washed & Painted) - Maintenance Storage Shed for Golf Carts (2 sided structure) - Mulch - Building Daycare Fence & Platform - Picnic Tables -Donation Drive

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
