NCAA Final Four Day of Service "Operation Blue Triangle"

January 18, 2016

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM CST

Houston Platoon

Event overview

The Mission: The Blue Triangle Community Center is a beacon of hope in the Third Ward, where community members and their children participate in swimming, basketball, volleyball, and have a safe place to learn and play. Come join all five Houston Service Platoons, who will be teaming up with the NCAA Men's Final Four on Martin Luther King Day to completely renovate and organize the Blue Triangle Community Center, including playground beautification, building an outdoor classroom, refurbishing the basketball court and gym, kitchen carpentry, landscaping, building a new parking lot, painting, and more! Call to Service: Join The Mission Continues, the NCAA Men's Final Four, Lone Star Veterans Association, Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, BP, YMCA, members of the local community, and several other organizations as we celebrate and honor Martin Luther King Day by giving back to Houston. We will need all hands on deck for this project and the community deserves to see what a group of veterans and volunteers can do. Following the project a post celebration, which will include lunch, will be held immediately after.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
