In Bronx Community District 5 – the poorest congressional district in the nation, where 38 percent of residents live below the poverty line – veterans from national veterans nonprofit The Mission Continues are teaming up with real estate developer BronxPro and nonprofits DreamYard and Sustainable South Bronx to execute numerous community service projects over the course of one year that are changing the landscape by creating new, beautified public spaces and improving energy efficiency to help revive the neighborhood’s vitality. This summer and fall, those efforts will include installing 10 “cool roofs” – a marriage of Gaudi-style sculptural designs and solar panels – on affordable housing facilities located around Hayden Lord Park. On August 28th, we're going back to 1669 University Ave to complete the nation's largest rooftop mural. We need you there!
