Service Project

MLK Day of Service Coat Drive

January 16, 2021

09:45 AM - 01:00 PM EST

Newark Platoon

Event overview

The Mission Continues Newark Platoon is collecting coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to donate to The New Jersey Veteran's Network and Never Alone Again in Teaneck. We need your help on collection day to help collect the items and sort the items collected so that they can be distributed to the organizations. This event also has a socially distant aspect as well. If you would like to donate a coat you can visit 1 of 3 drop off boxes located at various American Legions. They are: American Legion Post 310 in Little Ferry, NJ, American Legion Post 58 in Englewood, NJ, and American Legion post 170 in Rochelle Park, NJ. All the drop boxes are near the bar areas. If you drop off at one of these locations then please snap a selfie and email it to jgonzalez@missioncontinues.org so that we can create a collage to honor our social distance donors. Please don't forget your mask and please dress warm. We will be outside but there are 3 firepits in the Pavilion where we will be. Volunteers will be paired into a team of 2 or 3 and will rotate 1 hour shifts.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
