Operation Nourish- South Side Garden Work

July 18, 2020

08:30 AM - 02:00 PM EDT

Columbus OH Platoon

Event overview

Please join The Mission Continues, Wounded Warrior Project and South Side Community Action Network to help two different community gardens. These are award winning community gardens that work to benefit a growing community and family of urban gardens on the South Side of Columbus. We have many tasks to hopefully complete for this event. These tasks can include, installing an irrigation system, building two garden boxes, light building on a garden fence, installing a hand rail, Install hand wash station, brick patio, weeding, and laying down mulch. All volunteers of all skill sets are welcome. We are looking for some volunteers with carpentry or masonry skills to help with the construction of an arbor, steps and handrails, and lay brick pavers. Lunch will be provided by the Wounded Warrior Project. Accessibility: we will be working largely on grassy areas so it may not be accessible for all. Due to Covid-19 we can only allow 10 people from each organization so sign up fast. We will also be talking extra precaution by providing rubber gloves, masks, kids masks, and hand sanitizer

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
