9/11 Remembrance Day of Service in Lowell

September 14, 2019

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM EDT

Boston Platoon

Event overview

On Saturday, September 14th, join veterans and community volunteers as we report for duty for the 18th anniversary of 9/11/01, and honor those who lost their lives. For this year's National Day of Service, our Lowell Platoon will partner with Mill City Grows to support with urban farming efforts at the Big Farm in Lowell. Volunteers are needed to help with field work in the 4-acre farm, construction projects for the hoop house and new lean-to, cutting lumber and building garden beds for Middlesex Community Garden, repairing garden beds at a couple of local schools, building new produce storage, painting and sign-making, and more! This is a family-friendly event for ages 6+, and we will have music, snacks, and an afternoon lunch for all participants. Come out and make a difference with us in Lowell!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
