Event overview

Our service project is a call to action for individuals, corporations and entities to move forward together by creating a wave of kindness and service world-wide. On the King Holiday, Monday, January 21, 2019, The King Center will conduct a service project in partnership with Hands on Atlanta, Accenture, The Mission Continues and the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee on the King Center’s campus. We will be assembling and collecting “Activity Kits” for the patients of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Also, St. Jude will receive one of the King Center’s highest honors, the “Salute to Greatness” Award, on Saturday, January 19th. Activity Kits will be assembled for youth, ages 13 – 18 who are patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They rely on generous donations and volunteer efforts from caring individuals and organizations to make their patient’s hospital stay a little easier. The kits will be used to soothe and entertain youth while they’re in the waiting room and in their hospital rooms. Activity Kits will include the following: 1. Sudoku books 2. Word search books 3. Mechanical Pencils 4. Playing cards 5. Journals Volunteer Schedule – Monday, January 21, 2019, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm · 12 Noon – 2:00 pm The Mission Continues (50 volunteers) · 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm The Mission Continues and The Home Depot Foundation (50 volunteers)
