Dreams Coming True: In Honor of MLK

January 19, 2019

09:00 AM - 03:00 PM PST

Orange County Platoon

Event overview

With the New Year of 2019, Orange County's 1st Service Platoon will be bringing life to Grandma's House of Hope Attic donation center! Honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., having a dream is the first step for change towards a better future. Grandma's House of Hope is a contributing Nonprofit to the O.C. communities throughout the County. Their mission: Empowering the invisible populations of Orange County. We say “Yes!” when everyone else says “No.” Their vision: When our good works are done, we envision a thriving, supportive community full of caring and productive individuals where everyone has a safe place to call home. They have reached out to us, The Mission Continues, for a helping hand to reconsolidating and reorganizing the surplus of donations/inventory. We will be constructing shelving units and supply storages. We will be painting and rearranging offices. There will be MANY sorting/organizing opportunities. Let's kick off this new year together with like minded selfless service patrons and bring their Dreams to life. Remember, The Mission Continues empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. We deploy veterans on new missions in their communities, so that their actions will inspire future generations to serve. Let's put these words to life together with Grandma's House of Hope and our local communities.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
