Service Project

Furniture Build at Grant Avenue Elementary

October 27, 2018

10:00 AM - 04:00 PM EDT

New York City Platoon

Event overview

On Oct 6th, The Mission Continues Bronx Platoon mobilized to help DreamYard Project with their mission to build pathways to equity and opportunity through the arts. During that event, we prepped the school's library for a major renovation. DreamYard needs our help once again. This time, they need our help to finish the last phase of their library renovation. The school's library used to have furniture that was used by middle school kids but now that the library is part of the elementary school, that furniture is unusable by kids in grades K-5. The platoon will be spending the afternoon assembling furniture to ensure that the youth of Grant Ave Elementary are able to use the library to its fullest potential. The entrance to enter the school is on E 164th and Morris Ave. You'll need your ID to sign in at the security desk. The event is also listed to go until 4pm but if we get done fast, we'll be leaving well before that time. We look forward to seeing you there.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
