Make A Difference Day at the Washington Youth Garden

October 28, 2017

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

Come WYG-out with us on Make A Difference Day! Located within the beautiful National Arboretum, the WYG is a pocket of peace in the busy DC cityscape that uses the food production cycle as a means to connect area youths with science education, health, and community stewardship. What better way to make a difference than helping to inspire the next generation to make healthy and responsible decisions? We've got several small projects lined out that span general constuction, site improvement, gardening, and even tree felling, so chances are you'll find a way to feel good about what you contribute. Make sure to let us know if you plan on bringing little ones, cause we're gonna have pumpkins and maybe even a Halloween costume contest!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
