The Mission Continues 1st Platoon serves the Kashmere Gardens Communityand is led by Marine veteran Jose Rodriguez.

Kashmere Gardens, located north of Fifth Ward along Loop 610 (N. Loop E.), is a historically African-American Neighborhood. It is an area of modest single-family homes, many on large lots. Some areas are wooded. Kashmere Gardens has struggled as a community in recent years due to the lack of resources available to its residents.

The Mission Continues will work with ProUnitas, an organization that - as their mission statement notes, - “…empowers all students by providing academic institutions with a data-driven blueprint to eliminate non-academic barriers to student success,” in order to improve the aesthetics of schools. Additionally, we will also work with Kashmere Garden’s Super Neighborhood Community Council, and Brighter Bites, a Houston area non-profit organization that delivers fresh produce directly to families; we will conduct service projects that target elementary schools within the Kashmere feeder pattern. Our work will strengthen relief efforts in order to engage the Kashmere Gardens community, and thus empowering residents now and in the long-term future, as residents continue to rebuild following Hurricane Harvey’s destruction.
