Event overview

Run As One encompasses the united efforts of The Mission Continues, Team Red White and Blue and Team Rubicon to establish and renew bonds with our brothers and sisters in our partner organizations and communities. We will demonstrate to the world our collective culture of inclusivity and camaraderie. Our goals: • Build strong, united communities for America's veterans • Demonstrate leadership by driving collaboration and proactive approach to veterans' service • Raise awareness of veteran challenges and how they can be helped through proactive community participation This particular event will be held at one of Phoenix 1st Platoon’s completed service project collaborated with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation. We initiated an amazing certified 5K with adult fitness equipment which successfully aided in the FIT PHX health initiative. If you plan on participating then you will need to register at this site: https://www.crowdrise.com/az-tempe2017. We will come together in fitness, friendship and food as we finish up the 5K with a nice barbecue at Ramada 9 and 10. The Ramada 9 & 10 location is located across the street northeast from the Papago Park trail heading toward 625 N Galvin Parkway then turning north just before the zoo parking lot. There you will follow Ranger Loop heading toward the huge rock structure “hole in the rock” and turn 180 south toward the lake. - 0600 participants will arrive at Papago Park Trail (Just East across from the zoo) - 0700 registered runners will begin their 5K movement (One group moving together in camaraderie) - 1000 5K officially over and social event at Ramada 9 &10 started (Off Ranger loop just north from the zoo) “If I had one thing to say to my fellow veterans, it would be this: continue to serve, even though we have taken off our uniforms”. - Clay Hunt, USMC Run As One is held in honor of Marine veteran Clay Hunt, an original member of Team Rubicon, Mission Continues Fellow, Wounded Warrior Project Alumni, and avid sportsman, who took his own life after battling PTSD and depression. Clay was an active participant in many veteran organizations and the event serves as a celebration of the networks that empower, unite, and enrich the lives of veterans. Veteran service organizations will be coming together in dozens of major cities representing a symbol of leadership, action, and collaboration across the veteran landscape globally and within our local communities. Run As One is a unique engagement opportunity. Appreciate and live the greater meaning of today. We know shared purpose and hard work towards a common goal builds the strongest communities, so run together, run as one. Use today to connect with all of your veteran brothers and sisters while establishing meaningful connections within the community. #RunAsOne Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.
