2017 MLK Day of Service with the Ethopian Community Center

January 15, 2017

10:00 AM - 04:00 PM PST

Seattle Platoon

Event overview

Now that we have completed the pathway, we as a platoon are moving on to assist our new partners, The Ethiopian Community Center. As a platoon we assisted the Wounded Warrior Program back in August with installing a new bulletin board and cleaning up around the local businesses. The ECS’s mission is to facilitate a seamless integration of all persons of Ethiopian origin with mainstream United States. Additionally, ECS aims to contribute to the social, cultural and civic life of the Puget Sound Area as well as assisting Ethiopians and Ethiopian-Americans to preserve and share their ancient and rich cultural heritage. The projects mission is to demo, paint and install a new desk, Indoors! The ECS will also be providing lunch. With the help of our Rainier Beach Partners including Rainier Beach: Beautiful Safe Place for Youth and the Rainier Beach Merchants Association, we look forward to seeing you there

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
