Service Project

Her Mission at Hillenglade Farm

March 30, 2019

09:00 AM - 02:00 PM CDT

Nashville Platoon

Event overview

After such a great experience honoring 9/11 this past September alongside Hands on Nashville and Team Depot, TMC Nashville will be returning to Hope and Healing at Hillenglade (an Equine-Assisted Program that offers time away in the country for our active armed forces, veterans, first responders and their families) in March - this time to celebrate "Her Mission" and International Women's Month! "Her Mission" is a part of an ongoing national conversation for women veterans, empowering and equipping women to lead a movement that inspires community change efforts and advancement towards equality. Join us on Saturday, March 30th, for a special TMC Nashville project lead by our own women platoon members as we give back to Hope and Healing at Hillenglade by providing a face-lift to this well-loved farm. We'll have projects planned for every skill level, and don't worry, after an energizing morning of hard work, we'll break bread together and get a chance to participate in some hands-on grooming of the farm's horses! You won't want to miss this project, so grab a battle buddy or a neighbor, and plan to join us on March 30th! *While this project is specifically designed to celebrate the active role women play as leaders in the military and in our communities on the home front, all are welcome!

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
