RTX Earth Day in Hartford

April 26, 2025

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Hartford Platoon

Event overview

Join us as we celebrate our 4th annual Earth Day project in partnership with RTX and The Mission Continues! This year, we’re excited to serve alongside the incredible staff and youth of the Southwest Boys & Girls Club—an essential community hub providing a safe, supportive environment and impactful programming for kids and teens across Hartford. This club is the oldest club in Hartford, established in 1956. It's also the last club in Hartford waiting to be renovated.

Our day of service will focus on revitalizing both the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Club, creating a more vibrant, welcoming environment for learning and play. Projects are likely to include:

--Expanding outdoor seating options to support outdoor learning and group activities
--Landscaping to enhance the club’s curb appeal and introduce pollinator-friendly plants
--Installing a small, functional garden space for students and staff to engage in hands-on learning
--Indoor painting to refresh key spaces that are beginning to show signs of wear

This Earth Day, we’re not only giving back—we’re helping build spaces where curiosity, creativity, and community can thrive. Come ready to roll up your sleeves and make an impact!

Lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the work day.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
