Birmingham Platoon

Event overview

Join Us This April for #Earth Day with Action!

To make a meaningful impact in our community, this is your chance to experience the camaraderie and teamwork from working alongside veterans and community members at https://foundationselfc.org/. Whether you’re a veteran or not, you’ll gain a unique perspective on service as we all unite to give back to the local community. Through your efforts, you'll help foster a sense of purpose, connection, and growth among those who have served our country.

Report for duty in your community and be part of something bigger. Serve at home and make a difference where it matters most as we:

  • Construct and establish new garden spaces, including raised beds, soil preparation, and planting.
  • Bring color and life to local spaces by applying new coats of paint, focusing on walls, fences, or other surfaces to improve aesthetic appeal and protect surfaces from wear and tear.
  • Assemble and install benches, providing comfortable seating options on the campus grounds.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
