Event overview

February is Black History Month. This is a time to come together and celebrate. This is a time to gather and recognize the central role of African Americans within United States history. Last year our KC Platoon started a gardening book club, let's continue the journey by reading "Rooted in the Earth: Reclaiming the African American Environmental Heritage" by Dianne Glave. A little about the author: Dr. Glave is a historian and professor specializing in both African American and environmental history.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
