Super Kids-Super Sharing

January 26, 2023

07:30 AM - 04:00 PM MST

Phoenix Platoon

Event overview

Super Kids-Super Sharing is a National Football League Super Bowl community impact project that puts books, sports equipment and school supplies into the hands of local children and schools in consistently under-resourced communities.

· This year NFL Green, the NFL’s environmental program, is teaming up with local public and private schools, the Arizona Cardinals, the Arizona Super Bowl LVII Host Committee, Verizon, and The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center Phoenix for Super Kids-Super Sharing.

· Participating schools will ask their students to donate lightly used (or new) books, sports equipment, school supplies and games. School collections begin following the December holiday break.

· A Super-Kids collection event will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center Phoenix located at 1375 E. Broadway Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85040. School coordinators and several students from each participating school will be invited to bring donated items and join in the event. Representatives from the NFL, Arizona Cardinals, and Arizona Super Bowl LVII Host Committee will be on hand to greet and thank participants. The collection runs from 9 a.m. to noon with a ceremony at 10 a.m. followed by interactive stations provided by the Cardinals.

· Donated items are shared with under-resourced schools in participating districts and other organizations serving local children. Registered recipients check in and select the items they can use. Volunteers will be on-hand to help with “shopping” and loading.

· Super Kids-Super Sharing is part of the NFL’s rapidly growing environmental initiative for the Super Bowl. NFL Green evaluates the environmental impacts of Super Bowl activities and works with the local community to develop and implement cost-effective and sustainable projects to address them. This is accomplished through solid waste management, material reuse, food recovery, greenhouse gas reduction, tree plantings, and other community projects. Water, snacks and coffee will be provided in the morning. Lunch will also be provided.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
