Event overview

Join The Mission Continues and Fox Sports Midwest to lend a hand in revitalizing the Gamble Recreation Center in north St. Louis City! St. Louis' Recreation Division offers programming throughout the City of St. Louis for residents of all ages. Thousands of children and adults are impacted at Rec Centers like Gamble through summer, after school programs like swimming, weight lifting, boxing, basketball, youth football, volleyball, aerobics, arts and crafts. Plans include helping make indoor play spaces more vibrant, create additional program capacity by building garden beds, chess tables, and reading nooks and more! We also plan to join forces to make the the playground, sports fields and pavilion even more inviting places where community can gather to enjoy what Gamble and the adjacent Normay Seay Park have to offer. Some of our efforts on project day will even go to support the nearby Wohl Rec Center as well. Bring the AWESOME and make a huge impact! If you cannot join us, or are able to bring needed items with you to the project, please visit the Gamble Rec Center Wish List and consider purchasing a few items to enrich use of the spaces we are creating. Please note that any donations are not tax deductible as the City of St. Louis is not a registered 501c3. Visit: https://amzn.com/w/1TOTLWS1VS8M8

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
