Event overview

Meet Colonel Patsy Thompson (ARNG, ret.), Colonel Margarethe Cammermeyer (USAR, ret.), and Eric Fanning, 22nd Secretary of the Army. They played key roles in changing military policy toward LGBT service members, and are featured in the new documentary, SURVIVING THE SILENCE. Join us for clips from the film and an interactive panel, led by filmmaker and LGBT advocate Cindy L. Abel, talking about making change and the current state of inclusion. Followed by the panel, participants will have the option to join in two of three sessions: (1) Allyship, led by Jeffry Priela (2) Current landscape of LGBTQ military service (with focus on trans service), led by Jamie Hash (3) Coming Out, Pronouns, and Identity, led by Tracey Cooper-Harris

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
