January 18, 2020

09:00 AM - 04:00 PM EST

Pittsburgh Platoon

Event overview

Join Hazelwood Platoon and Center of Life in honoring Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service as we mobilize veterans, Hazelwood residents, and community members across Pittsburgh in service to our community. We will be building shelving, organizing classroom materials, painting classrooms, installing a mobile dance floor and much, much more in support of Center of Life's after-school programming that serves local Hazelwood youth. All ages and abilities welcomed. Lunch will be provided, so please register to allow us to have enough food. Accessibility Information: we will have an accessible porta potty on site, however, the projects will be on the 2nd and 3rd floor and there is not an elevator on site.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
