MLK Day of Service Indy

January 18, 2020

08:30 AM - 02:00 PM EST

Indianapolis Platoon

Event overview

Join Indianapolis 1st Platoon for MLK Day of Service! We will be back at our Operation Brightwood Future partner site, Edna Martin Christian Center in Martindale-Brightwood, for a great day of volunteering and engagement with the community. Come ready to work so we can support the community in providing a safe and comfortable environment for children to learn and play. We will be constructing storage cubbies for the early childhood classroom, cleaning and organizing, and painting. After the project, we share lunch together and those interested can either listen to or participate in a community conversation about what service means to us and to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
