Service Project

End Dumping

June 08, 2019

09:00 AM - 02:00 PM CDT

Houston Platoon

Event overview

In the Greater East End, Forest Hill Bridge is most used by children going to and from school. The bridge has some over growth causing the walkway to be hazardous. This leads walkers to seek an alternative route, which is often in the street with motor vehicles. Not so far from the bridge is an area closed off to traffic but can be used as an outdoor space for passer-byers. These spaces are sure to offer a work out as we dig, mulch, paint, plant and haul. Come join the fun. 1) Forest Hill: pressure wash and paint the underpass, mow the grass, cut back the brush 2) 72nd St at the dead end: mow grass, level surface, add gravel, build raised flower beds, plant trees 3) Capitol: dig holes, plant trees (stake them and mulch them) Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 am for an on time start. Lunch, refreshments, and TMC t-shirts will also be provided.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
