Danny Woo Community Garden Day of Service

March 10, 2018

Event overview

Come join the Seattle 2nd Platoon, along with our Community Partners at Code Fellows, for an unforgettable Day of Service...right in the heart of Seattle. Unless you are already aware of the Danny Woo Community Garden, it is easy to miss. Tucked behind a row of tall trees up against Seattle’s busy Interstate 5, it is not always visible to the average passerby. But don’t let its unassuming appearance deceive you – this community garden is anything but ordinary. The Danny Woo Community Garden was founded in 1975 and is located in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District at 620 South Main Street. The Garden is approximately 1.5 acres and contains nearly 100 plots that are cultivated and cared for by elderly Asian immigrant residents of the neighborhood. The garden is also home to a children's garden, chicken coop, outdoor kitchen, and fruit tree orchard. As the largest green space in the Chinatown/International District and Little Saigon area, the Danny Woo Community Garden is an essential place for the surrounding community to engage with nature, access safe and healthy food, and build cohesion with neighbors. This is an amazing opportunity to directly impact one of the most precious green spaces in the city.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
