Starbucks – Fuel for Our Mission

Nov 1, 2017

November 1, 2017

Starbucks has been an ongoing supporter of our work, and we’re glad to highlight their continued support of veterans and military families in exciting ways this fall and all year through.

Most recently, Starbucks provided financial support and encouraged their employees to come out to serve with us through service platoon projects all across the country in honor of September 11th. We were so proud to have them as the lead sponsor for this national campaign, and are even prouder that they are supporting us on Veterans Day as well.

We want to take a moment to highlight their unwavering commitment to our shared communities, and how you can be a part of it.

Veterans Day gift cards

From November 1st to 11th, Starbucks allows customers to support veterans when they purchase a gift card. For each gift card bought, Starbucks will put a $5 contribution toward veteran service organizations — The Mission Continues being one of them. We benefitted from these cards last fall and will again this November, as it allowed us to engage even more veterans in continued service.

Coffee when we need it most

Starbucks stores around the country have been known to bring out the caffeine for local Mission Continues service projects, but also for our new Mass Deployment program. Adding energy to our already high-intensity mass deployments, Starbucks stores in Atlanta and Detroit provided coffee for Operation Westside Surge this year and Operation Motown Muster last year. Next up is Los Angeles in 2018 for Operation Watts is Worth It.

Sharing veteran stories

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz co-authored a book, For Love of Country, highlighting stories of veterans’ service during and after the military. The book’s epilogue amplified our story by citing The Mission Continues as an example of veterans continuing to serve in their communities.

Supporting military families

Starbucks empowers the veteran community through Military Mondays at their 34 Military Family Stores. On these days they share information with veterans and military families about local resources. It has been fulfilling to see how the Starbucks Military Family Stores have grown in number, as the original store at Camp Pendleton was opened in partnership with The Mission Continues!

Together with Starbucks, we wish you all a meaningful Veterans Day season this year.
