Event overview

The Mission Continues Boston Platoon will be hosting a service project with Mill City Grows at the Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary to commemorate Veterans Day. For this service project we will be disassembling a large hoop house greenhouse and building garden beds to support the Spring 2025 opening of the community garden. Pizza for lunch and refreshments will be provided.

**ALLERGY WARNING: Bee sanctuary on site.**
Power tools will be in use for this project, volunteers ages 12+ and minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
Accessibility: this event will take place outdoors and on uneven ground. It may not be accessible for all. We are happy to make requested accommodations; please reach out with requests.

Mill City Grows creates and manages community gardens where residents can grow their own food. They create urban farms where their team grows thousands of pounds of food that are distributed throughout each of Lowell’s neighborhoods. Mill City Grows also partners with Lowell Public Schools to install gardens and provide garden and nutrition education through their School Garden Program. They train gardeners on urban agriculture and community leadership through their educational programs. Mill City Grows also increases access to food locally with their Mobile Market.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
