November 16, 2024

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM EST

Miami Platoon

Event overview

Join the Miami Platoon on November 16th for a Day of Service and Unity as we join efforts with the WEARE1MIAMI team in supporting Sunrise Community, Inc. by building a sensory garden for individuals with developmental disabilities. This initiative is Phase 3 of a transformative three-phase project that aims to create an inclusive and therapeutic space for the residents and community members of Sunrise.

Sunrise Community, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides person-centered services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For decades, Sunrise has empowered people to live more independent, fulfilling lives by offering residential services, day programs, and therapeutic activities. The sensory garden will serve as a safe, accessible, and interactive space that caters to the unique needs of these individuals, helping them engage with nature and enhance their sensory experiences in a therapeutic environment.

Please join the Miami Platoon and WEARE1MIAMI to support Sunrise Community, Inc. in creating a sensory garden. Phase Two includes building and planting the sensory garden.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
