Service Project

MLK Event Atlanta

January 27, 2024

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EST

Atlanta Platoon

Event overview

West End Community Gardens is instrumental in the Atlanta urban farm Network - not only do they provide training for upcoming farmers, they also provide a space where veterans come out to use their location as a therapy program and youth building programs. This will be a great opportunity for the Atlanta Platoon to re-establish a network and build footprint in the urban farm community, and this is a site where we can continually monitor the development of the programs we support. We plan to plant now and harvest on Earth Day - it will be a wonderful adventure! (In the state of Georgia, it is better to plant and build when it’s cool and cold outside. We don’t start gathering until the weather gets warmer.)

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
