It is a 3 day intensive with a travel day on Thursday, October 13.

Looking for more information?

Leading For All is The Mission Continues’ newest leadership initiative to prepare veterans to lead in a way that truly brings people together. This intensive will allow veteran leaders to create and cultivate an environment where all feel valued and respected. Veterans will strengthen their self-awareness and learn practical applications to ensure they can lead in an inclusive and equitable manner that leverages the unique qualities, experiences, mindsets, and strengths that come together with a diverse population.

Through understanding their own and others’ perspectives and experiences, veteran leaders will be better prepared to seek out, consider, and factor those perspectives to more effectively lead in various areas of their lives.

Benefits:

  • Develop the skills and knowledge to lead effectively in the diverse groups that you are working and serving in
  • Engage in various learning opportunities including learning labs, individual reflections with a group of veterans learning with and along side you
  • Connect with our network of veterans
  • All travel expenses are paid to travel to cities for in-person sessions, no application or program tuition fees

Registration Process:

Eligibility:

  • Eager to learn and grow, and have a desire to build your leadership skills
  • Interested in collaborative team-based work with other veterans
  • Able to commit to a full weekend, including the Thursday beforehand for travel
  • Comfortable engaging in an in-person learning environment
  • US Military veteran (or current member of the National Guard or Reserves)
  • Must reside in the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico

This intensive will be a three-day in-person immersive opportunity that will build knowledge and skills around such topics as:

  •  Identifying and challenging implicit biases
  • Utilizing storytelling as a convening tool
  • Exploring the implications of social and positional power
  • Understanding and incorporating inclusive practices and behaviors
  • Communicating with compassion in challenging situations
  • Integrating various perspectives
  • Adapt their leadership approach to include and engage all voices

Throughout the three-day intensive, veteran leaders will have the opportunity to collaborate in small groups with other veteran leaders to deepen their exposure to varying experiences and perspectives — including their own — and understand that effectively including those perspectives can ultimately lead to better solutions in diverse settings. This will be done through presentations by subject matter experts, guided discussions, panel discussions,  case studies, role-playing, and leadership labs. Veteran leaders will apply their new knowledge and skill to develop concrete action plans for applying inclusive leadership practices in their own contexts upon leaving.
