Making Mud Pies

September 06, 2017

04:00 PM - 07:30 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

UDC College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences is leading the community farming initiatives in DC. One of their sites, Bertie Backus, will soon be hosting a community garden like the one at their East Capitol Urban Farm. They need help finishing the prep for their opening day on September 15th. All we need to do is fill the garden beds with soil! (So maybe not quite making mud pies.) There are about 30 large beds to fill. This is a weeknight event as time is short, but Becky would appreciate your help! She is a Charlie 2017 Mission Continues Fellow with UDC CAUSES. If you’re available earlier in the day, you’re welcome to come before 4 pm – this is a low key project. They also have hydroponics, a native plant nursery, and compost project on site – an informal tour is available for anyone interested.
