Following what is turning out to be numerous April Showers, we are going to help bring some flowers to our community partner, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center. Join us as we partner with Target, the Lead Sponsor for the Minneapolis Service Platoon, on May 12th for a day of clean up of the outdoor areas around the Community Center; we will be tearing up and pulling out the old vegetation, planting some new bushes and flowers to brighten up the area, and laying mulch to finish it off. We will also be painting and erecting a new sign with the Phyllis Wheatley logo on it so that those visiting can more easily find the Community Center. All of this will be done with the soundtrack of a great local DJ, and fellow Veteran, to keep our energy up. We will have coffee, water, sports drinks in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon. There will be a medic on site for any small injuries, scrapes etc. We will have projects and assignments that are accommodating to those with physical limitations. So come out and enjoy a wonderful Friday outside, helping to start the summer off right for a great Community Center.
