Come out and join all of our Los Angeles platoons as we unite and have a kickass day at Carver Middle School. We will have several painting projects, building much needed benches in the quad, refurbishing the Parent Center to encourage greater parent engagement, and creating a reading cafe to support the school's focus on literacy. All ages and skills welcome! Carver Middle School has long history that dates back to 1889 when it opened as East Vernon School. Carver was reconfigured to a Middle School in 1992. Carver is named in honor of a great African American scientist, Dr. George Washington Carver, who gained international fame for his research in agriculture. Dr. Carver truly subscribed to his value of education when he stated the following: Start where you are with what you have; Make something of it; Never be satisfied.
