This garden is of great importance to the South Shore Community. It has been a location of controversy, tragedy and triumph. In April 2017, four murders (gang related) took place. The community rallied in support, residents, politicians and businesses all came out in solidarity. The Mission Continues has an opportunity to make a significant impact and invest time in an undeserved part of Chicago. Volunteers should expect to trim hedges, small trees, spread mulch and some work in repairing a wooden table. We may also build a tree bench and another stand alone bench. At Ashe Park it will be a basic cleaning mostly raking and trimming.
