We return to Phyllis Wheatley to focus on highlighting and preserving some of their key historical artifacts. We will have a lot going on during this project, which means there are going to be opportunities to try different things than what we usually do. We are going to be hanging a mural that has been hidden in storage for many years, this mural is going to take up a whole hall way, and will be the first thing that visitors coming into Phyllis Wheatley will see. Additionally we will be putting up some pictures as well in an adjoining hallway. We will have a team working on fixing and installing new lighting, so that all of the painting that was done the day prior, and the art and pictures we are putting up, will be better seen, and the whole place will take on a brighter glow. We will be finishing up the library bookshelves that were started the project earlier, and finishing some smaller touches on the library itself. Finally we will have a group of people going through Phyllis Wheatley's trophies and pictures to catalogue and document them for a future project, which will be the designing and building of a trophy case. We are also going to have a special project just for the children who may not be old enough, or interested enough, in the projects described above. In our continuing effort to connect with the community we are serving in, we will have an area dedicated for children to draw pictures for, and write messages of love and support to the children who attend the Early Childhood Education Center, kind of like a pen pal situation, but with drawings and simple messages of kindness. Our goal for this project is to highlight the long history of Phyllis Wheatley, and begin to help provide a sense of community history and pride for all those who visit there.
