Veterans Day Service and Celebration

November 12, 2016

10:00 AM - 07:00 PM EST

Detroit Platoon

Event overview

Celebrate Veterans Day by SERVING AGAIN in our community. Detroit 1st Platoon and Detroit 2nd Platoon are joining forces with Focus: HOPE and the neighborhood surrounding Central High School, part of Hope Village, to complete volunteer projects to enhance school culture, increase safety, and create pride in the community. Volunteers will help with several projects around the school, including painting, staining benches and picnic tables, securing fencing, sorting and recycling used books, and much more. Projects and activities will be available for all ages, so bring the whole family! A celebration Thanksgiving Dinner and social to honor our veterans and their families will follow the service project for those who choose to stay! Children's activities (volunteers needed!) as well as a speaker and a resource fair will all accompany dinner. Volunteer projects will take place from 10 AM-4 PM and include a light breakfast and lunch. Thanksgiving Dinner and Celebration will take place from 4 PM-7 PM. Please join us for volunteering, a special celebration dinner, or both! Check in for either segment of the event at the West Entrance of the school facing Linwood, closest to the athletic fields.
