September 10, 2016

Miami Platoon

Event overview

In celebration of the National Parks Service Centennial and 15 year anniversary of 9/11, The Mission Continues Miami Platoon is deploying to Dry Tortugas National Park for a once in a lifetime service project. Almost 70 miles (113 km) west of Key West lies the remote Dry Tortugas National Park. The 100-square mile park is mostly open water with seven small islands. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, the park is known the world over as the home of magnificent Fort Jefferson, picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs and marine life, and the vast assortment of bird life that frequent the area. With a declining national budget to maintain the park, platoon members will help park rangers with multiple tasks to ensure that visitors, for many generations to come, will be able to enjoy the Dry Tortugas. We hope to see you there!
