Kansas City Platoon

Event overview

In March 2016 the Kansas City Platoon found Longfellow Elementary. As soon as we walked into the school we could feel the love and support of the teachers and principal. Longfellow School truly aims to provide the best education and learning environment for their students. The staff and teachers want every student to feel heard, supported, and safe. Daily they practice hawk vision meditation. Each student visualizes their plan for school success for the day. They emphasize daily the total development of each child’s moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being. Their library has not been updated in over 20 years. The space is large and needs a loving lift. The Kansas City Platoon will be painting and lifting the space for the students to have a peaceful “into the woods” escape. For our first project, we will be decluttering, organizing, painting, and decorating the space. This project will open up space for our sensory areas. Let's give Longfellow Library a lift. We will be painting, building, and organizing.
