Event overview

Warrior Wednesday, a forum for veterans, active duty military and civilians interested in veteran affairs. Mission United is United Way’s newest initiative that focuses on helping veterans re-acclimate to civilian life by connecting them and their families with essential services and employment opportunities. Mission United provides veterans with personalized, tailored assistance. A case manager works with each veteran to gather information, assess needs and design an action plan with specific outcomes to help set him or her on the right path. Warrior Wednesday will further assist veterans, active duty military and civilians through panel discussions led by guest speakers who understand the complex challenges faced by veterans and their families. Question and answer sessions will follow the panel discussion and offer attendees the opportunity to engage with guest speakers and tell their story. The first Warrior Wednesday: Service Then and Now, will take place after hours and feature speakers recently separated from the Army and the Marine Corps, including: Andrew Carricarte (the U.S. Army), Anthony Torres (the U.S. Army), Edwin Vasco (the U.S. Marines Corps), and Jeremy Miranda (the U.S. Marines Corps). Future meetings will cover hiring veterans; using mindfulness and yoga to help deal with post-traumatic stress disorder; homecomings, etc. To attend Warrior Wednesday, please RSVP to Marina Rodriguez at rodriguezm@unitedwaymiami.org.
