Event overview

This year marks the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and The Mission Continues is issuing a call to serve and stand united. Mission Continues Service Platoons nationwide are organizing service projects for veterans and local volunteers to come together, make a difference in their community, and remember those who served and sacrificed in the wake of 9/11. Please join all 5 platoons for our 9/11 National Day of Service event. Have you ever been to a park and wondered what that space looked like before development? Well, wonder no more. This year for our Nation Day of Service event we are going to create a park in the east end district. In the month of June, 5th platoon started beautification of the area with planting trees along Capital blvd and painting the underpass at Forest Hill. To continue the mission we are making our way to Capital at S 72nd St. Our list of activities includes but are not limited to: Tree planting Building butterfly garden planter boxes Build and install a pergola Build and install sitting areas Build a walkway Planting flowers Mulching Litter pick-up And so much more! This project has been in the works for over 7 years, but the manpower has not been available until now. The Mission Continues is known to bring out the best volunteers All hands are welcome from age 0 - 120. We are determined to make a huge impact in the community and the more volunteers we have the bigger the impact.
