This August, join Austin 1st Platoon and Veteran Leaders from all over Texas with this years Regional Platoon Summit! This year: we are dominating in Austin, TX with a 4 hour project with our partners and friends at Mary Lee Foundation. Founded in 1963, Mary Lee Foundation is a staple in the community specializing in residential treatment and vocational services for persons with disabilities, including veterans impacted by traumatic brain injury. Through the MLF residential program, those with disabilities are able to access affordable housing providing them the opportunity to live, learn, and work in the community. This summer, we are joining forces to help expand the capacity of MLF by building a recreational green space to be shared not only by the residents but by those that visit MLF for services daily. The purpose of this space is to increase both physical activity and social engagement within MLF and the surrounding community. Tasks include: Rehab of Therapy Kitchen Classroom Building Herb Garden Building Compost Bin Painting Bluebonnet Mural Pruning Trees and Roses Painting Apartment Railings Lunch will be served by veteran owned food truck, RWB Chow Bus!
