MLK National Day of Service

Seattle Platoon

Event overview

Martin Luther King Jr. was, is a hero of our time who epitomized selfless service and sacrifice for the common goods, for social progress and social justice. It is in his vision that we welcome you and are excited to host the first major service project in 2019 in conjunction with our national remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr, We are going to have an amazing day of service at the Northwest Tap Connection. The platoon will be supporting NW Tap Connection's leadership team, as we renovate the grand old dance studio to enhance and promote various dance and performing arts programs. We will be working on the next critical phase in our process of assisting the NW Taps Connection in constructing their dance studio. The project will consist of us doing demolition of a exterior fence and deck, installing new fence in it's place, cutting wood and building flower beds for the youth. The Mission Continues aims to build community, reduce youth delinquency, and enhance and cultivate cultural and neighborhood identities. These goals fall directly in line with NW Tap. Come on out and join us for a great day of community service, there will be tons to do, and plenty of projects for the kids, so bring the whole family!
