All three Los Angeles Mission Continues service platoons will unite for our special September 11, 2018 service project.
We will continue our commitment to the Champions for Change Initiative with Youth Policy Institute and LAUSD. Champions for Change implements nutrition education, physical activity, and gardening programs, which builds a healthier and safer community. Berrendo Middle School is located within the Los Angeles Promise Zone.
We will need your help to create and provide much needed support in their school garden and expand their access to green space. We will enhance the existing garden by refurbishing existing tables, adding new tables/benches. We will build benches near and around the campus green spaces to take advantage of the spaces available to create comfortable outdoor classrooms. We will also paint positive quotes in their halls and brighten their indoor space.
If you missed your chance at the last service event this is your chance to shine bright!

Certain host organizations, such as schools, may prohibit volunteers with certain types of criminal convictions from participating in a service project. Accordingly, The Mission Continues is requesting your consent to conduct a criminal background check in the event that your Platoon is engaging in a service project with a host organization that requires a criminal background check. By checking the box below, you authorize The Mission Continues to conduct a criminal background check.
If such a background check is required, it will be completed and used in accordance with applicable law. The Mission Continues does not automatically disqualify persons from Platoons based on criminal convictions. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to move forward in their lives through service, at the same time that we seek to protect the communities we serve together.
