Join fellow Detroit Platoon members and community members as we support Keep Growing Detroit to sort and pack seeds in preparation for the spring planting season! Keep Growing Detroit (KGD) exists to promote a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables Detroiters consume are grown by residents within the city’s limits. Their staff operate a number of established and nationally recognized programs, including the Garden Resource Program (GRP) and Grown in Detroit (GID). Keep Growing Detroit’s strategic approach to achieving our mission facilitates beginner gardeners becoming engaged community leaders and food entrepreneurs, addressing the immediate needs of the community while promoting sustainable change in our food system. Each year Garden Resource Program members help pack seeds that are distributed to gardens all across the city. Join us for seed packing event, get active for the season, and put in a little sweat equity to help out fellow gardeners. This is a family friendly event. Fun Fact: Detroit 1st and 2nd Platoons are Garden Resources Program members, maintaining gardens at Central and Stein Playfield that will receive these seeds and other seedlings! So join us as we give back to a great partner organization. For more information, check out their website here: http://detroitagriculture.net
