The Mission Continues will be hosting a national service project at Crandon Park on Saturday, January 27th, as part of our Alpha 2018 Orientation. Donated to Miami Dade County in 1940, Crandon Park is one of the country's best preserved natural beaches and wildlife sanctuaries, and is a popular location for all of South Florida's diverse community. Due to substantial hurricane damage and cutbacks in state funding, Crandon Park is in need of our help. Military veterans from across the country will join the Miami Service Platoon, the Florida Panthers Foundation and community volunteers to help preserve and protect Crandon Park by completing the following: - Restore sand dunes damaged by Hurricane Irma by planting 3,000 sea oats - Repurpose the old Miami Zoo exhibit grounds through landscaping projects, painting and bench building - Conduct beach cleanup and trail repair along Crandon Park Beach - Revive outdoor roller rink by adding a fresh coat of paint and refurbishing picnic tables Come out and serve alongside The Mission Continues during an incredible afternoon. See you there!
