Join the Oakland 1st Service Platoon as we support SupplyBank.org for K to College's Annual Berkeley Volunteer Event. This year the event will be held in the Chevron Auditorium of the UC Berkeley International House, at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and Bancroft Way in Berkeley. We will assemble 3,500 school supply kits that will be given to students eligible for the free & reduced lunch program attending Berkeley Public Schools. Please register here in advance as accurate numbers need to be passed along to SupplyBank.org Snacks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there! More about SupplyBank.org: SupplyBank.Org is a systems change agency operating like a food bank, but for supplies. By innovatively applying the food bank model to address unmet material needs causing barriers to health, education and employment, we simultaneously treat symptoms and forge pathways out of poverty. In the past few years we have distributed more than $25 million worth of basic necessities including diapers, hygiene supplies, school supplies, refurbished laptops and other items to more than 500,000 people throughout the state. 2018 is the year we break ground on a 60,000 square foot distribution center in Oakland, to reach hundreds of thousands of additional children and families in the Bay Area and throughout California with the materials they need to access pathways out of poverty.
