In Remembrance of 9/11: Community Service Project with The Mission Continues – Atlanta

Join The Mission Continues – Atlanta Platoon as we honor the lives lost and the heroism displayed on September 11th through a day of purposeful service and community unity. In remembrance of 9/11, we’re bringing veterans, volunteers, and community members together to transform a local space into something meaningful and lasting.

This year’s project will focus on revitalizing at Hamilton E. Holmes Elementary school campus through impactful service activities, including:

Painting and Beautification to refresh and inspire shared spaces

Constructing an Outdoor Classroom to promote hands-on learning and connection to nature

Completing a Community Mural as a bold, visual tribute to resilience and hope

By serving together, we honor the spirit of unity that emerged after 9/11 and continue our mission to empower veterans while strengthening our communities.

Whether you’re a veteran, a local resident, or just someone looking to give back, your time and effort will make a lasting difference. Let’s come together, serve with purpose, and remember through action.

Service. Honor. Unity.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
