Host a Fellow at Your Organization

Thank you for your interest in supporting our Fellows at The Mission Continues by serving as a Fellowship Host Organization.

 Fellowship Host Organization Application

The responsibilities of a host organization include:

  • Provide the opportunity for the Fellow to serve 20 hours a week for up to 26 weeks
  • Provide each Fellow with the opportunity to make a positive difference in their community through their service. The Fellow will work with you to set quantitative goals for their work and develop a clear plan of action for how they will improve their community
  • The host organization must have confirmed 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service or be a federal/state governmental agency

Through the Fellowship Program, post-9/11 veterans have the opportunity to continue service to their nation by serving in their communities. We challenge our veterans to use the skills and leadership gained through their military service to benefit the lives of those in the community around them.  We enrich the lives of our Fellows through service, helping to facilitate their transition to civilian life, and placing these outstanding role models where community members may benefit from their strength and example.

The Fellow will serve as a volunteer for your organization during that time and will receive additional resources from The Mission Continues to ensure their personal and professional success.  This includes a cost of living stipend to offset their expenses plus substantial guidance and mentorship to ensure their strong impact in your community.

Fellowship Testimonials:

“The reason for choosing Habitat for Humanity was based on my opinion that everyone deserves a safe haven, and home is where it all starts. I chose to work construction because results are very tangible. I do not have much experience in construction, but I am excited to learn...My service will result in homes being built.”

Ilya Berler

"I chose the South Platte Park because I enjoy working outdoors and I would also like to pursue a career in conservation. After my fellowship is complete, I will have a career goal in mind and know the steps to take in order to achieve that goal."

 Seosaimh Keady

"LSVA works closely with other government organizations like the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the State of Texas, Harris County and the City of Houston to develop ongoing programs to further assist their local service men and women, veterans and their families.

It will expand my leadership and operational experience within an organization that will prove extremely valuable in achieving my professional and educational goals."
